WHO ARE THE RELAXERS?


The Relaxers are members of John C. Parkin’s monthly membership group. 
The Relaxers are a community of ordinary people experiencing extraordinary change from deep relaxation.
The Relaxers know what harm stress can do – to their health, relaxationships, sleep, work and every part of their life – so are looking to be mainly relaxed in everything they do, through developing great habits (ie. the habits of The Relaxers).

WHO IS JOHN C. PARKIN?


John C. Parkin
first became interested in serious relaxation as a 21-year old,
suffering from ill health and realizing that stress was a critical factor.
He immersed himself in the relaxation arts, such as Tai Chi, Qigong, Yoga and meditation.
He trained in hypnotherapy.
He sought out the most relaxed people on the planet to learn from.
He mastered the art of relaxation, healed from his serious illnesses,
and began sharing his knowledge with others.
He did so via the retreat centre he and his wife Gaia set up in Italy – The Hill That Breathes.
He wrote the million-selling F**k It books.
And he has devoted his life to helping others relax and let go.
He spends a lot of his time supporting The Relaxers each month,
and loves seeing people benefitting from the habits,
and learning how to ‘fly’ with relaxation.

THE RELAXERS' LIVE

The cornerstone of The Relaxers’ experience is the monthly live session.
This where John will guide you through that month’s ‘habit’, for example that ‘The Relaxers Breathe Funny’, with teaching, exercises and plenty of sharing amongst the group.
In fact, it’s the community aspect of The Relaxers – getting together with like-minded people, on the same path to relaxation, and sharing their progress and insights – that means so much to The Relaxers.

THE RELAXERS' PODCAST

The Relaxers love John’s monthly podcast recording on each month’s ‘habit’.
These podcasts, between 20 and 40 minutes’ long, offer the core teaching of that habit, usually with relevant stories from John’s life and experience.  And often with an exercise or visualisation that you can follow. These podcasts build into a valuable audio resource that you can tap into any time you want.

 

THE RELAXERS' REMINDERS

The Relaxers become more and more relaxed by developing great habits. 
The truth is that it’s very easy to forget the great things we learn in relation to relaxation because of the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Who remembers to breathe deeply when you’re rushing to an appointment or trying to meet a deadline. John’s regular email reminders serve to keep you in touch with what you’re learning, and keep at those great habits until they really stick.

WHY DO PEOPLE JOIN THE RELAXERS?

The Relaxers know how to use their breathing to relax. Including some rather funny breaths. Changing your breathing is the quickest and most powerful way to switch your nervous system and get you relaxed in pretty much an instant. That’s why The Relaxers Breathe Funny.

The Relaxers Think About Relaxing
If you’re going to get good at anything, you need to think about, have it as your focus. So, not just when they’re stressed, but much of the time, The Relaxers Think About Relaxing.

The Relaxers Get Stressed Too, But…
Everyone gets stressed. Even The Relaxers get stressed. The difference is that they have a bag of tricks to get them back to relaxed in a jiffy. They’re also aware of the negative effect of stress, so they are super motivated to return to their generally relaxed state.

The Relaxers Are Not That Bothered
A beautiful effect of being deeply relaxed is that we’re not so bothered about the stuff that gets most people het up. The more we relax, the less bothered about stuff we are. So, generally, The Relaxers Are Not That Bothered. In a good way.

When we’re relaxed we tend to do everything more slowly: talking, walking, eating, moving in any way. Knowing this, The Relaxers place an emphasis on Taking Their Time.

When we’re clear about what we want, it’s more likely that we get what we want. And The Relaxers will also tell you that it’s a more relaxing way to live: to know what you want, and then move gently towards it. So, The Relaxers Know What They Want.

Relaxation has a bi-directional quality, so that whatever we experience when we’re deeply relaxed, can become a portal to relaxation when we’re not (relaxed). To understand how the relaxing mantras work, it’s worth understanding some of how the brain works – especially the hemispheres, the brain frequencies and the role of the subconscious.

IT DOESN’T MATTER SO MUCH
This first mantra is so effective because it gets to the heart of the issue for most of us – that we take everything so seriously and it all becomes so HEAVY. This is an instant lightener and perspective-giver.

THIS TOO SHALL PASS
There are many stories as to the origin of these four words.  But they work because they can apply to good times and bad: they remind us that everything washes away over time, and therefore not to hang on (to the good or the bad).

I CAN RELAX NOW
Relaxation is at the heart of this work, and there’s little that can relax like this mantra.  Even if the rational brain responds that there’s no reason to relax (now), the mantra will help tease out one, and you’ll RELAX (now).

THIS IS WHAT IT IS
We could spend all year just on ‘acceptance’. It’s a big subject (John has written at least one book on this). But these five words get you there in an instant (without the instant debate). In our instinctive need to resist (what is), this zaps your brain with the irrefutable truth – ‘this is what it is’.

I AM WHAT I AM
Gaia spends her life on this one, via her ‘Being Me Therapy’ work.  The core of many of our issues is the non-acceptance, the non-approving, the non-loving of ourselves.  F**k It, we are what we are. I am what I am.  Now let’s start living.

Even in tough times, there is plenty to be grateful for, plenty of beauty. FAQs ABOUT THE RELAXERS MEMBERSHIP:


How does it work with John’s 1-to-1s on the Gold membership?

As part of your membership, you become part of John’s regular VIP client group, and have one 1-to-1 every month, which is one hour long, and on Zoom (though you can do face-to-face if you prefer, John & Gaia live in Brighton-Hove, UK).

Can I upgrade from Silver to Gold later?

In theory, yes.  The system allows you to do that at the click of a button.
But… because Gold membership is limited to how much time John has available for new regular clients, it might be that there’s no longer availability.

Can I cancel if I later find it’s not for me?

The majority of our Founder Members are still with us, more than two years later.
So we reckon you’ll love it.
But, yes, you can cancel your membership anytime.

You say that the rate is ‘locked’ forever, what does that mean?

The rate that  you join on, now, is fixed for as long as you’re a member, and for as long as we’re running this membership (and we envisage this as a long-term and very beautiful project).  That means that, in the future, you’ll see us offering this same membership for higher prices, and, very likely, much higher prices. 
But you can sit pretty, knowing that you’re price is locked forever. Lovely.

What if I can’t make the live sessions, are they recorded?

Yes, every session is recorded and then put in your membership area. You’ll also get the link to the Zoom cloud recordings, where you can follow along with the ‘chat’ at the side of the video… which is about the closest to live you’ll get 🙂

Can we join as a couple, with one membership?

If you’re planning to do the sessions and the work together and you’re in the same household, yes.
You’d register under one name, and then you access everything with those log-ins.
We have been asked this and we did see there were quite a few couples on the workshop sessions, so it’s great if you want to attend live sessions, etc., together.

I’m in Australia, so the sessions are in the middle of the night for me.

Yes, we are aware of that.  And we’re sorry for it too.
We do have Australian members of our memberships who get up (very early) to join the sessions (usually in their dressing gowns), but we know that’s not for everyone.
So we have the recordings that are available soon after the sessions.

If I get behind, will I be able to catch up?

Well, the strict answer to that is ‘yes’… in that all of the live session recordings, and monthly podcasts, and bonus materials, will be stored on your membership site for you to access.
But… we suggest that you’re ‘never behind’ and you don’t need to worry about ‘catching up’.  Just turn up for the next live session, and listen to the next monthly podcast.  Then you’re back on track as a Relaxer 🙂

We’re afraid not. You have access to everything with the membership as long as you’re a member.  If you leave, you can’t access any of the materials.
